Pocket NC workholding:

Below is a 'Quotation Request Form' for our Pocket NC work holding systems.

Bundle 1 on the order form contains the "Base plate" for the 5th Axis DM12 Dovetail fixture.

Bundles 2 - 6 on the order form are for our own Pocket NC work holding. A video of these can be seen below, and a video playlist explaining how to set the work holding up in Autodesk's Fusion 360 CAD/CAM software can be viewed here: Watch Video Here

If you wish to order individual items such as soft jaws for your vice, you can also select those in the form.

For those looking for our larger "fixture plates", which we have produced in the past, and which can be viewed here on our YouTube channel, we are currently out of stock of these. We do however have spare parts on hand for existing customers.

‍Your quotation will include a delivery charge, which will be roughly £10 - £30 depending on where you are in the world. You may also be required to pay any applicable taxes and customs duty. For those outside the United Kingdom (UK), we will quote you on Delivery At Place (DAP) terms. This means that we will charge you for delivery, but the courier will contact you separately requesting payment for any tax and customs duty that may be due.

Please note: The video above features our prototype version of the AYE workholding system. The photos in the Image gallery below show the latest version of the design, which has several improvement.

We will also soon be offering an alternative version of both the "Base plate" and the "Fixture plate". We will start manufacturing these in the second week of April. The design drawings for these can be viewed in the Image gallery below.

These simpler (and cheaper) new designs are listed as "Base plate No.1" and "Fixture plate No.1" in the Quotation request form. The originals, which feature in the Image gallery below, are listed as "Base plate No.2" and "Fixture plate No.2" in the Quotation form.

  1. The vice comes with Knurled jaws. Both Stainless smooth jaws and Aluminium soft jaws can be ordered seperately. The Knurled jaws can easily be swapped in for these alternative jaws. If you plan to do a lot of machining using Soft jaws (soft jaws are typically used for Secondary Operations, or "2nd Op's"), then you may want to consider ordering additional set of Soft jaws.

  2. Both the "knurled Jaws" and "smooth jaws" are made from Stainless Steel 304, to allow their teeth to bite into stock and hold it securely. The soft jaws are made from Aluminium 6082, which is a very common, and easy to machine grade of Aluminium. All other components are manufactured from Aluminium 7075, otherwise known as aerospace grade Aluminium, to make the vice very light and strong.

  3. We have included both the '5th axis DM12 dovetail fixture' at the price that it costs us to acquire them from the UK distributors, which is £245 excluding VAT. It may be cheaper for anyone outside the UK to have these supplied by their local distributor in their own country. For a list of 5th axis distributors by country, click here.

  4. Stainless Steel Torx screws and locating (dowel) pins will be included with the components where applicable. You will need your own T20 Torx screwdrivers to tighten and loosen the fasteners. The maximum Torque that should be applied to the clamps is 5Nm, although you will find that you need much less than this.

    If possible, it is best to have a small Torque wrench (such as this one manufactured by Sandvik, with a range of 3-15Nm: link), or a Torque screwdriver (such as this one manufactured by Gedore, with a range of 1-6Nm: link) to ensure that you tighten the vice to the correct settings, without over-tightening, and potentially damaging it.

The 'knurled' jaws in this Bundle 2 are made from Stainless Steel 304, and will allow you to firmly grip larger items made out of softer metal materials, such as Aluminium, Brass or Plastic. The small teeth of these knurled jaws very slightly dig into the surface of the stock in order to hold it firmly.

All screws and locating pins are included.

Please note: The "Aluminium soft jaw attachments" are available separately, and can be machined to hold parts for 2nd Op work, or to hold round bar stock. For example, our shipments to the US with nearly always fall below the $800 threshold for goods shipped from the UK, and are therefore not subject to any customs/import duty.

2. We typically invoice, and take payment in GBP(£). We now accept payment via PayPal, from debit/credit card using the PayPal payment gateway, or bank transfer.

We can invoice and accept payment in several foreign currencies, but when doing so, we can only take payment via bank transfer.

For those outside the UK, some of our other customers have found "Wise" money transfer service to be a quick and easy service when making payments in foreign currency, and which we use ourselves. Wise typically provide a far better exchange rate than banks and services such as PayPal. Transfers are also completed in a matter of hours, rather than days, and email notifications are provided to both the sender and recipient at each stage of the transfer. They are fully regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
